Choosing a martial art

May 13th, 2008

Each martial art has its advantages and disadvantages, so choosing to study a particular martial art is a personal choice. It depends on what the person is looking for while learning the martial art - self defense,  to develop  more confidence, fitness, sport, a hobby.

Basic research can be done online to short list a martial art. Make a list of the training schools available in your area, not all martial arts training may be available locally. Visit them while classes are being conducted, and observe how students are being taught.

If possible, sign up for classes for a few days, find what you are comfortable with and then take up a full training program.
